Keeping a shaped piece looking shaped.

Cones, balls, cloud-pruned shapes and standards, maintenance clipping to hold an established form, not free-hand carving from scratch.

What we take on

We maintain existing formal shapes on yew, box, privet and holly, keeping a cone, ball, spiral or standard crisp through the growing season. We're honest that we're maintaining a form rather than sculpting an ambitious new one from an untrained plant, if you want a genuinely bespoke topiary design started from scratch, that's a specialist job we'll help you find the right person for.

The maintenance calendar

  1. Late May – June

First shaping clip of the season on fast-growing subjects like privet, once spring growth has hardened enough to hold a line.

  2. Late August – September

Main shaping cut for slower subjects, yew and box, timed for the single annual clip these species prefer.

  3. Through summer, light touch-ups

A quick tidy pass on fast growers between the two main cuts if the shape starts to blur, kept light so the form isn't over-stressed.

Pricing

Priced per piece depending on size and complexity of the existing shape. A straightforward cone or ball maintenance clip typically runs £35 – £90 per piece; larger or more elaborate standards are quoted individually.
