About

Hedges done properly. Locally.

Chatham Hedges & Tree Services is run by Richard Lim. Local, honest, no upselling.

What we do

We cut hedges. We reduce overgrown ones. And we look after the trees behind them, pruning, crown reduction and deadwooding, specified for Medway's estuarine clay and salt-exposed conifers, not a one-size approach lifted from an inland town.

That's it. We don't do lawn care, fencing, or the rest of the garden-services bundle. Hedges and boundary trees are a craft worth being good at; we keep our focus narrow so we are.

Why local matters here

Parts of Chatham, including the fringe around the Historic Dockyard, sit inside a Medway Council conservation area, and so does much of neighbouring Rochester. Gardens closer to the river and Chatham Maritime take salt-laden wind off the estuary that browns the seaward face of an exposed conifer faster than an inland hedge. Up on Walderslade and Chatham Hill, the ground rises onto chalk-influenced soil that behaves differently again. A contractor from outside the towns won't know any of that without being told.

We work this patch every week. The conservation-area paperwork is included. The estuary-exposure factor is built into how we advise on species and staging. The recommendations match what actually holds up here.
